Ultimate Gluten- & Corn-Free Nachos with Homemade Cheese Waffles
Nachos are easy to make
Many people have asked me at the market how to eat these cheese waffles. Besides dipping them or using them as thin sandwich bases, Hungarians typically enjoy them as a crunchy snack with beer or a glass of wine during conversations. But I can also recommend a complete meal recipe in this multicultural Canada, a Hungarian-Mexican co-production: Ultimate Gluten-Free and Corn-Free Nachos with Homemade Cheese Waffles
Enjoy making this delicious and unique take on nachos with Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles, offering a perfect blend of flavors and textures for any gathering or meal. You can make fast, delicious, simple, gluten- and corn-free (Non-GMO) nachos at home in minutes! This mouth-watering recipe is incredibly easy to make, and your friends and family will absolutely rave about the great result and unique taste!
While nachos have always been a great appetizer, they can also be made into a full meal! This recipe works perfectly, whether it is a dinner for one person or can be prepared for the whole family. One of the best things about nachos is that they are very flexible when it comes to ingredients. You can also save the leftovers accumulated in the fridge from being thrown away.
You can toss these nachos with a variety of ingredients, and you really don’t even have to measure them. This is one of those dishes where you don’t have to worry about measuring ingredients exactly.
They are perfect for chatting with friends, having fun, or watching a game. Nachos can really be thrown together and enjoyed, and you can easily get the ingredients from your local farmer’s market.
Nachos are really a throw-together-and-enjoy kind of thing. When I’m entertaining, I love these types of recipes. This is a great way to get together quickly and easily while hanging out with your guests. They can even help.
Sometimes we are so focused on the perfect meal when entertaining that we become more engrossed in it than spending quality time with our guests.
What are the main ingredients of Nachos?
Instead of tortilla chips:
I recommend a gluten-free and corn-free version, because as many people love corn chips, just as many reject them from their diet, precisely because they contain too much starch and sugar and are also not free of chemicals. Instead of tortilla chips, use Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles, now available in three flavors:
- Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles (with Rice Flour) Old Cheddar
- Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles with Parmesan, Rosemary & Sun-dried Tomato
- Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles with Feta Cheese and Italian Seasonings
Two bags (or as required) of cheese waffles of the same or different flavors fit nicely on a standard-sized baking sheet.
Cheese:
Once the waffles are on the baking sheet, it’s time for the cheese. In my opinion, the best nacho cheese includes:
- Cheddar cheese
- Monterey Jack
- Colby
- Pepper Jack
- Mozzarella
Grate the cheeses. We prefer both the taste and simplicity of making grated cheese nachos and baking them in the oven.
Toppings:
Once you have the cheesy waffle base and grated cheese, it’s time to start adding the toppings. You can really do what you want. I prefer to start with room temperature or warm ingredients if possible. This helps in even cooking.
When it comes to nachos, you can really use whatever ingredients you like or have on hand. Feel free to use ground beef, shredded beef, pork, chicken, even leftover stew (without the juice) – that’s the beauty of nachos.
Nacho toppings:
- Ground beef
- Shredded beef
- Ground turkey meat
- Shredded chicken
- Shredded pork carnitas
- Tomato
- Black olives
- Black beans
- Onion
- Mushrooms
- Jalapeños
Toppings to be added after baking:
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Guacamole
- Avocado
There is no right or wrong way to make these and they are DELICIOUS.
Simply fill a baking sheet with cheesy waffles and top with any toppings of your choice. The only real supplies are gluten-free and corn-free Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles and a huge amount of cheese; everything else is up to your creativity or your pantry. All you have to do is stack these waffles on a baking sheet and pop them in the oven.
How to bake nachos in the oven?
When all the ingredients have been collected, put them in the oven. I bake my nachos in the oven at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. A quarter sheet or half sheet pan is perfect for this recipe.
The amount and type of toppings can greatly affect the cooking time. I don’t recommend piling too many juicy ingredients on top of the waffles, as it will easily make them soggy. Start checking at the tenth minute, then take them out when the cheese is nice and melted. Then take them out of the oven and serve directly on the baking sheet.
I like to pair it with some sour cream, salsa, guacamole, and/or refried beans on the side. If you have a large crowd, you could easily make a few trays of these, and even customize the topping for each batch. A really fantastic party food option.
Ingredients:
- Cheese Waffles:
– 1 bags Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles (with Rice Flour) Old Cheddar,
– 1 bag Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles with Parmesan, Rosemary & Sun-dried Tomato,
– 1 bag Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles with Feta Cheese and Italian Seasonings - Grated cheeses: Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby, Pepper Jack, Mozzarella (choose a combination)
- Nacho toppings:
Ground beef | shredded beef | ground turkey meat | shredded chicken | shredded pork carnitas
Tomatoes, black olives, black beans, onions, garlic, jalapeños - Toppings to be added after baking: Sour cream, salsa, guacamole, avocado
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2. Arrange the cheese waffles: Spread a mixture of Andrea’s Homemade Cheese Waffles (choose your favorite flavors) evenly on a standard-sized baking sheet (I use a 12″ pizza pan).
3. Add the grated cheese: Generously sprinkle your choice of grated cheeses over the waffles. A combination of Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby, Pepper Jack, and Mozzarella works best.
4. Prepare the toppings:
-
- Beef and Beans Topping:
- Heat 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil in a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 pound ground sirloin, 2 cloves garlic (chopped), 1 small onion (chopped), and 1-2 sliced mushrooms.
- Beef and Beans Topping:
-
-
- Season with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons dark chili powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin, and 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper sauce (optional).
- Cook for 5 minutes, then stir in 1 can (15 ounces) of drained black beans. Reduce heat to low.
-
5. Layer the toppings: Evenly distribute the prepared beef and beans mixture, along with tomatoes, black olives, black beans, onions, and jalapeño slices over the cheese-covered waffles.
6. Bake the nachos: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. Start checking at the tenth minute to avoid overcooking.
7. Add fresh herbs: If desired, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley after baking for added flavor and color.
8. Serve: Remove the nachos from the oven and serve directly on the baking sheet. Pair with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, and/or refried beans on the side.
